Electric Toothbrush or Traditional Toothbrush?

Electric Toothbrush or Traditional Toothbrush?

Should You Use an Electric Toothbrush or Keep Using Your Traditional One?

Healthy teeth promote physical, emotional, and mental health. Human beings have been brushing their teeth since 3000 B.C. In those early years, man used crude brushes made of twigs and tree branches. Thankfully, the toothbrush has evolved through the millenniums with every new innovation being better than the previous.

Many people are at loss on their choice of toothbrush. A good toothbrush will effectively clean your teeth without harming them. Currently, we have two types of toothbrushes to choose from: the electric toothbrush and the traditional toothbrush.

Electric Toothbrushes Offer Many Benefits

The electric toothbrush is the latest invention of toothbrushes. It uses technology that makes brushing teeth easier while providing maximum protection to your teeth and gums. The oscillating heads of the electric toothbrushes helps in reaching the hard-to-reach places and to get rid of the plaque that causes tooth decay and gum disease.

The amount of time you should spend brushing your teeth has always been a point of debate over the years. It is no longer a concern with the electric toothbrush as it will let you know when you are done.

The electric toothbrush is also much gentler on your teeth and gums. The pressure applied on the teeth and gums when using a traditional toothbrush can be harmful. The electric toothbrush ensures that you use less effort with a soft but effective scrub.

The electric toothbrush also comes in different designs and shapes depending on your needs. The different designs take care of people with braces and different shapes of teeth and mouth.

Why Are Most People Still Using a Traditional Toothbrush?

The traditional toothbrush has been in use for many years, and when used effectively can provide good care for your teeth.

While some people are unaware of the benefits of using the electric toothbrush, others are just resistant to change. The cost of the electric toothbrush has always been a turn-off for many. Most people using the traditional toothbrush find the electric toothbrush above their budget. The electric toothbrush drains its battery easily and the head requires regular replacing. With the traditional toothbrush, you can replace it within three months at a low cost which can be significantly cheaper.

Whichever toothbrush you choose, it is best to practice good dental hygiene by brushing twice a day using a good fluoride toothpaste. Having a regular dental checkup routine will also help in identifying and managing any problems before it escalates.
