Why This Treatment Matters
Dental emergencies can be stressful, painful, and disruptive—but they don’t have to ruin your day. At Holman Family Dentistry, we provide prompt, compassionate care to help you feel better fast and protect your long-term oral health.
What to Expect During Emergency Treatment
If you experience any of the following dental issues, don’t wait—early treatment can prevent complications and save your smile. Here are the five most common emergencies we see, and how we handle them:
1. Severe Toothache
What it means: Often caused by deep decay, infection, or an abscess.
How we treat it: We’ll take X-rays to find the cause, relieve your pain, and recommend treatment—usually a filling, root canal, or extraction.
2. Chipped or Broken Tooth
What it means: This may result from trauma, biting into something hard, or untreated decay.
How we treat it: Based on the extent of damage, we may use cosmetic bonding, a crown, or a veneer to restore the tooth.
3. Knocked-Out Tooth
What it means: Often due to sports injuries or accidents.
How we treat it: If you get to us within 30–60 minutes, we may be able to reinsert the tooth. If not, we’ll explore long-term options like dental implants or bridges.
4. Lost Crown or Filling
What it means: May occur from worn-out dental work or biting pressure.
How we treat it: We’ll clean the area, relieve discomfort, and replace or restore the crown or filling to protect your tooth.
5. Swelling or Abscess
What it means: Infection beneath the gums or around a tooth root.
How we treat it: We may drain the abscess, prescribe antibiotics, and perform further treatment to address the source.
